Pidi Kozhukattai


Pidi Kozhukattai is a savory version of kozhukattai. It is easy to make and good to taste. It is a healthy snack too.
Mothakam is little difficult compared to pidi kozhukattai. So beginners can make this kozhukattai easily and celebrate ganesh chaturthi. Soon I will post sweet pidi kozhukattai also.

Pidi Kozhukattai

Pidi Kozhukattai Ingredients:
Raw rice - 1 cup
Coconut - 3 tblsp
Red chilli - 3
Channa dal - 1 tsp
Urad dal - ½ tsp
Mustard - ½ tsp
Curry leaves - few
Oil - 4 tsp
Water - 3 cups
Salt - to taste
Asafoetida - ¼ tsp
Pidi Kozhukattai Method:
Grind raw rice into fine rava in a mixie. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard, urad dal, channa dal, asafoetida, red chilli, curry leaves.

When they crackle add coconut, salt and water. Then add rice rava.

Cook for few minutes till the water evaporates. Keep aside for cooling.

 Then make the dough into small balls and press it in the palm with fingers.

Steam cook in the steamer for 10 minutes.
Note:
You can soak the rice and grind it coarsely instead of dry grinding.
Add the ingredients according to your taste.
