Potato Masala Curry

Potato Masala Curryis a modified form of Potato Curry except for it is made with pre cooked potatoes. This is a side dish mostly made in Chettinad. The spicy masala taste is unique and kids like it.  The taste of Potato Masala Curry depends on the nature of the Potatoes. If you select the fresh, larger ones it will taste too good.

Potato Masala Curry is a common Side dish and is common in all Tamil or South Indian Homes.
Potato Masala Curry is easy to make and can be made with a lot of variations to suit your taste.

Potato Masala Fry Ingredients:
Potato - 250 gms
Potato Masala Curry
Onion - 1 big
Tomato - 1 small
Garlic cloves - 4
Ginger - 1 inch
Curry leaves - few
Chilli powder - 2 tsp
Salt         - to taste
For seasoning:
Mustard        - ¼ tsp
Urad dal        - ¼ tsp
Cumin - ¼ tsp
Fennel - ¼ tsp
Pepper - ¼ tsp
Oil        - 4 tblsp
Potato Masala Curry Method:
Clean and wash the potato and cut into halves. Pressure cook potato for a whistle and peel and cut into cubes.

 Chop onion and tomato finely. Crush garlic and ginger. Heat oil in a frying pan and add the seasoning one by one.

When they crackle add onion, ginger, garlic and curry leaves and sauté for a few minutes.

 Add tomato, chilli powder and salt and sauté well. Add cooked and cubed potato and mix well and cover the pan with a lid.

 Open the lid often and stir till done. Serve with sambar rice and curd rice.
Note:
If you want you can add tomato.
If you like ginger garlic taste you can add.
If you add water the potato will become soggy.
